Synopsis The Requin (2022)

That night Jaelyn (Alicia Silverstone) couldn't sleep. He left the room and played with his cell phone. However there is no cellular network in the place. Kyle (James Tupper) catches up with him and they chat. Jaelyn and Kyle are a husband and wife who are vacationing at a seaside resort somewhere in Vietnam. That night was their first night staying. Their resort room is a wooden building that floats above the sea.

The next day they visited tourist attractions around the resort. Jaelyn's phone finally got a signal. He then video calls with his mother and sister, informing him of his condition. He saw a weather forecast on local TV that said there would be a storm that night.

They then returned to the room and swam in the sea. Kyle sat on a rock, accidentally hurting his leg from a sharp rock. Jaelyn, who is recovering from bleeding during childbirth, is traumatized by the sight of blood. They finally returned to the room.

That night, there was a big storm. They called the hotel receptionist who offered to change rooms if they wanted. But they feel fine. Before long, the storm was getting bigger. Their room shook violently because it was hit by a big wave until it was released into the middle of the sea. Kyle fell and broke his leg.

The next morning, they awoke to find their room adrift on the high seas. Jaelyn dived under the room and found several items stuck, including their bag containing their cellphones and mineral water bottles. A small plane passed and they screamed but there was no response. Kyle tries to make a fire by focusing the sun's rays using a mineral water bottle. But because the sun was low, they couldn't get enough light.

They made it through the night. Kyle's condition was getting weaker. In the afternoon they saw a large ship in the distance. Kyle went back to trying to make a fire to produce smoke. He succeeded, but unfortunately, the fire just got bigger and they couldn't control it. They save themselves by plunging into the sea. Their room burned down leaving rubble.

They managed to reach the largest piece of debris and climb onto it. But apparently, the blood that came out of the wound on Kyle's leg provoked a shark. The sharks attack until they fall into the sea. Their rubble was split in two. With a broken board, Jaelyn attacks the shark and manages to chase it away. They tried to get back into the rubble. But because it didn't fit, only Jaelyn managed to climb up. While Kyle could only hang with his body still submerged in the water. They fell asleep from exhaustion.

Jaelyn wakes up when their debris reaches the shore of a small island at night. He tried to wake Kyle, but apparently Kyle was dead. Both legs had been cut off by a shark. Jaelyn fell back asleep on the beach sand. She had a dream that Kyle had approached her. He wakes up when the tide reaches him and sees Kyle's body drifting back into the sea and being eaten by several other sharks.

A shark attacked him and bit his leg. He was almost dragged into the middle of the sea, but he managed to grab a rock and hit the shark's head. He slipped and drifted away from the beach. As he climbed the rock, he saw a fisherman sleeping in his small boat not far from where he was. He managed to board the boat and wake the owner.

The fisherman woke up and helped treat his wounds. He then plunged into the sea and dived to check the fish trap he had set earlier. Unfortunately, the shark reappeared and attacked him. He tried to get into the boat and Jaelyn tried to help pull him. But their efforts were in vain and the sharks preyed on the fishermen.

Jaelyn pulled the anchor and tried to paddle away from the place. The shark attacks him again. He then invented a portable boat propeller engine on a boat. He ignites it and uses it to attack the shark. The shark moved away. However, he attacked again and managed to make the boat capsize. Jaelyn fell into the sea and got caught in the anchor rope.

This time luck came to Jaelyn. When the shark nearly pounced on him, he was blocked by an anchor that went into the shark's mouth. The shark didn't move and began to sink to the bottom of the sea and dragged Jaelyn who was stuck. With great difficulty, Jaelyn managed to untie the rope. Then he got into the overturned boat and lay down on it.

His boat tossed and took him to a nearby fishing beach.
